Because I think a lot of the reason people claim Amatsuki is confusing is due to the fact that there are a lot of factions involved in the plot, none of which are really outright the "villains." Though one could make arguments for each of them, I suppose. coughcoughyakoucoughsakakicough.

Bonten: I'm intruding.
Tsuruume: P-PRINCESS?! WHAT IS THIS, LETTING EVEN THE TENGU INTO THE SHRINE?!
Ginshu: Ah, I had time on my hands, so somehow...
Bonten: That's how it is.
Tsuruume: IT'S NOT "SOMEHOW!" PLEASE DON'T "SOMEHOW" LET THE TENGU INTO THE SHRINE!
Ginshu: But I had free time, and he's an acquaintance, and Tsuruume didn't have the time, so...

It's worth noting that Tsuyu is yelling in the background the whole time that HE WANTS TO GO HOME.

Kon: Aaaah, that's right, he said that. "Get along with Bonten!" LIKE I COULD.
Bonten: My, my. Even a gradeschooler could do that. Can't you? Why don't we start to get along?
Kon: You're picking a fight with me right now! DEFINITELY PICKING ONE!
Bonten: It's because you're asking for it, isn't it?

Some kind and considerate soul uploaded the Amatsuki Anime Navigation CD to Nicovideo. It's basically a drama CD intended to promote the series in light of the new anime. Toki, Kon, Kuchiha, and Bonten introduce the world and basic plot of Amatsuki in the guise of a radio show hosted by Bonten. It's actually extremely funny because it keeps cutting between the "on air" bits and the "behind the scenes" bits. HILARITY ENSUES.

The wonderful, amazing, and generous sanada has continued her translations of Amatsuki and is now partway into volume 6. This means she's actually into the part of the story where Bonten makes his offer to Toki.

Reading the recent translated scripts reminded me to make this post!

You may have noticed that while the Amatsuki cast endorses Hana-Mi's scanlations of the manga (found at amatsuki_manga), we don't always use their exact translations. Most notable is the fact that they use the word "youkai" (妖怪) when describing Bonten's species. It's a word most anime/manga fans are probably pretty familiar with, which is why I'd bet they use it, and the use of it in the scanlations isn't wrong, per se.

But the actual word used in the manga is "ayakashi" (妖). It means basically the same thing, but it's a more historical term, for one. More importantly, since Takayama chose the word ayakashi, that's what I use, too.

Just wanted to clarify things. ♥
